AMERICANS HAVE A LOVE AFFAIR WITH MEAT. IT’S NO LONGER SERVING US WELL.

The amount of meat and other animal products we consume today is leading to dire consequences for our health, our planet and animals.

WHY SHIFT cultural norms TOWARD PLANT-CENTRIC eating?

OUR HEALTH

Heart disease is the leading killer of Americans, largely driven by diets high in saturated fat and cholesterol found in animal products. There are also numerous health benefits to eating a plant-centric diet that most Americans don’t fully realize.

OUR PLANET

Animal agriculture contributes to 25-30% of greenhouse gas emissions, second only to fossil fuels. Eating a plant-centric diet is one of the biggest things the public can do to reduce their carbon footprint, more than driving an electric car or recycling.

OUR COMMUNITIES

Over 95% of our meat, dairy and eggs do not come from the small idyllic farms of yesteryear or places that represent images you see on packaging. Instead, these products come from an industrialized, corporate system that takes advantage of small farmers and workers, while creating pollution and public health issues in the communities in which they reside.

ANIMALS AND NATURE

The system in which most of these foods are produced is built for efficiency and profit, not the welfare of animals or for the benefit of nature. Billions of animals endure short lives full of suffering based on this economic model. In addition, animal agriculture is a major contributor to biodiversity loss on Earth, including when rainforests are cleared for beef herding.
